Balances and Composition Report
The Insights menu and Standard Reports or Reports Overview sub-menu are only visible if you have the correct permissions to access reports.
The Balances and Composition report lets you view and compare rewards and liability across different reporting periods, ranging from daily to yearly. The Date Group and Date Element options provide this flexibility. Color highlighting on the metrics makes comparisons across time more intuitive.
The Composition part of the report displays details of rewards earned, burned, and reversed by type — for example, base, bonus, and discretionary rewards earned or clawed back due to returns; points redeemed and reversed due to returns; and rewards expired. The Balances part displays outstanding member reward balances at the start and end of the reported period, as well as point or dollar liability split between positive (liability) and negative (potential loss) balances. The report also includes an option to switch between Points and Reward $ depending on your requirements.
The report lets you view the composition of rewards earned and burned by period, including net rewards by period (earned minus burned) and positive rewards liability (starting balance plus net rewards equals ending balance). Negative and net liability in dollars are also provided. You can select a date range, the number of periods to show, and additional details to refine the results.
The Rewards Earned and Rewards Burned sections show all point or dollar types depending on your settings. In the Earned section, redemptions appear as a positive number when a member redeems rewards. If the member later returns the items, the rewards are returned to the member and appear in the Earned section as a reversal. In the Burned section, Base and Bonus appear as negative numbers when a member returns items — in that case, the issued points are reclaimed from the member's account balance. To get the total for any point type, add up the points from both the Earned and Burned sections for that point type.

Filters and Features
Filters and features available in the report include:
- Report Type: Lets you view one or more sections of the dashboard. Options are Balances, Composition, and All (the default). If only Balances is selected, only rewards-related metrics are shown. If Composition is selected, only liability-related metrics are shown. Note: Changing the Date Group may cause the report to appear blank. If this happens, reselect either Balances or Composition from the Report Type dropdown, as not all date group options are available for both report types.
- Metric Group: Options are linked to the selection in the Report Type filter. Available options are Negative Liability, Net Liability, Net Rewards, Positive Liability, Rewards Burned, and Rewards Earned. The default is All.
- Highlighted Metric: Lets you select a single metric to be highlighted in the data table for intuitive comparison across time. For example, if Composition - Rewards $/Points Earned - Base is selected, each row is highlighted based on the value of base rewards. The larger the base rewards value, the stronger the shade of blue used to highlight that row.
- Data Table: The main table of data in the report. It provides an overview and comparison of Balances and Composition metrics across the selected date group. By default, the latest 20 periods from the Date Element are shown, which can be changed up to a maximum of 100.
- Hovering in Data Table: Hovering and clicking over a cell in the table shows a popup with more information about that data point, including a summary of the selected metric value for the selected period.

Control report results
To control the results shown in the Balances and Composition report:
- Access the Balances and Composition report as described above, then go to the filter section at the top.
- Select the Date Range (beginning and end date) or leave the default setting. The periods shown in the report fall within this date range.
- Choose the Date Period — the period type for the data below. Options include Date (day by day), Fiscal Week, Fiscal Period, Fiscal Quarter, Fiscal Year, and Program to Date. The maximum number of periods shown in the bar chart is 100.
- The Date Element selector defaults to All. Deselect All, choose specific periods, and click Apply to tailor the chart to those periods.
- Set the Number of Periods to Show (default is 20, maximum is 100). This controls how many periods (bars) appear in the bar chart. Fewer periods may be shown depending on available data.
- Choose the Report Type (default is All). Set it to Balances or Composition to narrow the scope of the report.
- The Metric Group selector controls which metrics are included. Set it to All (the default) to include all metrics, or select specific metrics such as Net Rewards Points, Reward Points Burned, or Rewards Points Earned. Click Apply if you make changes.
- Choose the Highlighted Metric. Rows in the data table are shaded based on the magnitude of the selected metric, making it easy to spot trends. Positive values are shaded blue, negative values red, and the darker the shade, the greater the magnitude. Use this dropdown to select which metric drives the row highlighting.
- Select whether values are shown in Points or Reward $. The report updates to reflect your selection.
- The report is shown below the filters. Hover over any cell in the table to see more details about that value.
- Click any heading, sub-heading, or column heading to view the aggregate value.
