Membership Tiers Report

The Insights menu and Standard Reports or Reports Overview sub-menu are only visible if you have the correct permissions to access reports.

The Membership Tiers report provides both a summary and a detailed view of how members are distributed across tiers at the end of a selected period, with cumulative results. You can observe how members migrate between tiers, with details on total and active members, members retained or new to each tier, and movement upward or downward.

For the period derived from the tier program membership settings, you can view end-of-period totals and summaries for each tier — including the percentage of members whose status was unchanged, upgraded, or downgraded. A Sankey chart shows the movement of members between tiers during the period. You can also choose whether to include the lowest tier in the analysis and view a summary of tier changes during the period, highlighted in progressively darker colors for larger changes.

Access and manage the report

To access the Membership Tiers report:

  1. Navigate to Insights > Reports Overview > Standard Reports.
  2. Click Loyalty Performance > Membership Tiers. The Membership Tiers report is displayed.

To use the controls on the bottom toolbar:

Refer to the Common Controls for Reports topic.

To view definitions of terms and usage notes:

Hover over the upper left corner of the report. The definitions and notes appear in a popup window.

End Period Tiers Summary Section

This section shows a summary of the number of loyalty program members at the end of the selected period, along with metrics for each tier — including how many members are in each tier and how many were promoted, demoted, or unchanged during the selected period.

To control the visualizations in the Ending Period Tiers Summary section:

  1. Access the Membership Tiers report as described above, then go to the Ending Period Tiers Summary section.
  2. Select the Period Type to view the report for different periods, such as Fiscal Week, Fiscal Quarter, or Calendar Month. The default is Calendar Month. The specific period can be selected from the Period Value filter. This selection controls all charts in the report.
  3. Choose the Period Value — one specific period of the type defined in Period Type. All visualizations update to show data for the selected period. Note: If you change Period Type, you must make a new selection from Period Value for the report to render correctly. This control applies to the first two sections but not to Ending Period Tier Details, where Period Value is set independently.
  4. To view details of a specific category in the donut charts, click the corresponding category in the legend.
  1. To view details of a selected section in a donut chart, click that section.
  1. To view percentages for the different metrics in a donut chart, click adjacent to the chart (not on one of the sections).

Member Tier Migration Section

This section shows a Sankey chart depicting the flow of loyalty program members between tiers during the selected period.

To view the details of member movements during the selected period:

  1. Access the Membership Tiers report as described above. Set the filters at the top of the report, then go to the Member Tier Migration section.
  2. Hover over part of the Sankey chart to view additional information about member movements within and between tiers. You can view tier metrics for a tier at the beginning of the period, for members who didn't change tiers, for those who did, and the final metrics for a tier at the end of the period.

Ending Period Tier Values Section

This section shows a table for drilling down into detailed metrics about member tier placement at the end of a selected period. Metrics are highlighted based on their individual value range — the darker the color (blue), the greater the value.

To view detailed metrics for a particular dimension of membership in the Ending Period Tier Values section:

  1. Access the Membership Tiers report as described above. Set the Period Type filter at the top, then go to the Ending Period Tier Values section.
  2. Choose the Period Value — one specific period of the type defined in Period Type. All visualizations update to show data for the selected period.
  3. To see which tier members started in for those who ended a period in a particular tier, select Yes for Drill down by Beginning Tier.
  1. To organize the table by data source order, alphabetical order, a specific field (column), or a nested field, use the control next to any of the Period columns or the Drill Down column.
  1. To sort by a specific column and toggle between ascending and descending order, click the filter control next to the column name.
