Activity Identifiers
This feature may not appear in the Console depending on configuration.
Activity identifiers let you manage the business-defined activities that form the basis for the Perform Activity required behavior in offers. This section lets you set up the types of activities that loyalty program members must complete to earn rewards.
Activity identifiers are labels for business-relevant actions members can perform that are associated with receiving rewards as an exchange of value between members and your company. These labels can also be used in offer setup and reporting elsewhere in your loyalty program. Activities are significant and valuable strategic elements of overall program design.
Activity identifiers may include completing a survey, writing a product or service review, downloading an app, logging in for the first time, posting comments, or viewing relevant content on the website. To define specific activity identifiers for your business, consult with your Exchange Solutions Technology Solutions Architect (TSA).
Depending on your configuration, activity identifiers may be specific to a business unit. If so, the business unit is displayed in the access menu. Selecting the business unit ensures you are managing the activity identifiers associated with that unit.
If an activity identifier is created for a business unit, it can only be used in offers created for that business unit.
Activity identifiers appear in two categories, each shown as a tab on the Activity Identifiers page: Enabled Activities (currently active) and Disabled Activities (not currently active). When creating or editing an offer, enabled activities appear as options under Business Defined in the Perform Activity selection menu.
Find an existing activity identifier
- Navigate to Data > Activity Identifiers, select a business unit if applicable.
- Depending on if the activity identifier is enabled or disabled, select either the Enabled Activities or Disabled Activities tab.
- In the search bar, Enter the activity identifier's name. Matching activity identifiers appear in the list. If no results are found, a message indicates that the activity identifier doesn't exist.
View an activity identifier
- Navigate to Data > Activity Identifiers, then select a business unit if applicable.
- Click the activity type identifier in the list, or click the ellipsis menu (⋯) in the Actions column and select View for that activity identifier. The Activity Identifier Details page opens.
Edit an activity identifier
- Navigate to Data > Activity Identifiers, then select a business unit if applicable.
- Click the activity type identifier in the list. The Activity Identifier Details page opens.
- Make changes to fields as required. Note that the Identifier field is greyed out and can't be changed — it represents the activity in the activity feed.
- To change whether the activity identifier is enabled or disabled, check or uncheck the Enable this activity identifier checkbox.
- To save your changes, click Save Changes, then click Save when prompted again.
Duplicate an activity identifier
- Navigate to Data > Activity Identifiers, then select a business unit if applicable.
- For a specific activity type, click the ellipsis menu (⋯) in the Actions column and select Duplicate for that activity identifier.
- The default name for the duplicate is the current name with _copy appended. Change the name in the Name window if required.
- Also update the identifier in the Identifier window.
- Select Create Activity. Click Create when prompted about duplicating the activity identifier. You are returned to the Activity Identifiers page and a message confirms that the new activity identifier has been created.
- The new activity identifier is disabled by default and appears under the Disabled Activities tab regardless of the status of the copied activity type. To enable it, click the ellipsis menu (⋯) in the Actions column and select Enable. Click Confirm when prompted about enabling the activity. A message confirms that the activity identifier is enabled and it moves to the Enabled Activities tab.
Disable or enable an activity identifier
If the activity identifier is currently enabled, select Actions > Disable. If it is currently disabled, select Actions > Enable. In both cases, a confirmation message appears and the activity identifier moves to the list under the other tab.
Create an activity identifier
- Navigate to Data > Activity Identifiers, then select a business unit if applicable.
- On the Activity Identifiers page, click + Activity.
- Enter the Name. This is a required field. To ensure the name appears on one line in the menu in offers, keep it to 28 characters or fewer.
- Optionally, enter a Description for the activity identifier.
- Enter the Identifier — the required field used to label the activity identifier within the ES Loyalty system. Use only alphanumeric characters, spaces, and underscores. Note that this field can't be changed after the activity identifier is created.
- Click Create Activity, then Create again in the confirmation window. The new activity identifier is disabled by default. A message confirms that it has been published and you are returned to the Activity Identifiers page.
