Householding
This section doesn't appear if configuration isn't set up to use Households or if the user doesn't have the correct permissions.
The Householding section allows an administrator to control the household features for members using universal settings. Depending on your permissions, you may or may not see Householding in the Program menu, or you may be able to view the page but not edit it. Only administrators with full permissions can edit the settings on the page.
Three settings exist only in the configuration file for the household template. Contact your Exchange Solutions Technology Solutions Architect (TSA) for more details if required:
- capacity: The maximum number of members that can be in a household, set at the system level. If the settings on the household page exceed this configured maximum, an error message appears. For example, this value may be set to 25.
- dailyMemberInviteLimit: The maximum number of member invitations that can be sent in a day by a specific member. For example, this may be set to 10.
- expireInviteAfterInDays: The number of days before an invitation sent to a member to join a household expires. For example, this may be set to 20.
Set up, view, or change the settings for member households
-
From the top menu of the Console, select Program > Householding. If the household template hasn't been set up yet, the maximum number of members depends on configuration but usually defaults to 3. Once the limit has been reached for a household, the Invite Member button is disabled for each member in that household who has permission to invite others.
-
Set, change, or view the Maximum number of members. This setting defines the maximum number of members that can be part of a household. The number entered must be 1 or higher.
noteA maximum is set in the configuration file and administrators can't exceed it. Contact your Exchange Solutions Technology Solutions Architect (TSA) for details.
-
Set, change, or view Primary Member Privileges. The primary member is the one who formed the household and typically has more privileges than secondary members, acting as an administrator for the household. Privileges can be assigned to allow the primary member to view other member details (as relevant to the household), redeem points from the household point balance, and/or invite members to the household. The primary member typically has all of these privileges.
noteIf no selections are made for the primary member, an error message appears when you click Save and Publish, as at least one privilege must be selected.
-
Set, change, or view Secondary Member Privileges. Secondary members are those invited by the primary member or by another secondary member. Privileges can be assigned to allow secondary members to view other member details (as relevant to the household), redeem points from the household point balance, and/or invite members to the household. Secondary members typically have privileges to redeem and invite others, but not to view other member details. However, you can select the settings that best fit your company's needs.

For most clients, the Redemption Logic is currently view-only because there is only one option —
PROPORTIONAL— which is also the default. This means redemptions are distributed across all members in proportion to their current redeemable balance within the household. For example, if household member A has $300 in redeemable dollars, B has $200, and C has $100, and $300 total is redeemed, then $150 is taken from member A, $100 from B, and $50 from C.noteIf any household member has zero redeemable dollars, the redemption is taken proportionally from members who do have a redeemable balance
The redeemable balance for any member may not match their contributions if those contributions exceed the member's daily redemption cap.
Some clients do have the configured ability to switch their Ad Hoc Redemption Logic to
REQUEST_DEFINED, meaning the primary member defines how much is redeemed from each household member included in the request (members not included contribute zero). In this case, a secondary member can still redeem points if they have redemption privileges, but only their own points. The default redemption logic is still shown as
PROPORTIONALbut isn't applied in this case. -
